One. Prototypes and one-off pieces are welcome — custom development simply carries a prototype cost, adjusted against production orders. For repeats, economical runs typically start at 10–25 pieces depending on complexity.
Drawings within a week of brief. First prototypes typically in 3–5 weeks. Production follows at 6–10 weeks after approval — hospitality rollouts are scheduled backwards from your opening date.
You do. Custom developments are exclusive to the commissioning client unless we agree otherwise. We're NDA-friendly from the first email.
Yes — references, sketches, even a paragraph of intent. The studio translates them into resolved drawings, then prototypes, then production. That's the core of the practice.
Quietly, and often. White-label development and production for international brands and studios is a standing part of the firm.

Projects, materials, prototypes — the thinking and making behind the objects. Click any story to read.
Forty rooms, one arrival sequence, eleven prototypes. How a boutique hotel learned to glow — and what hospitality taught us about repetition.
The brief arrived as a floor plan and a feeling: warm, low, golden. The lobby needed to hold guests at 11pm the way it held them at 11am — so we designed the light first and the furniture around it.
Eleven prototypes later — three pendant scales, two cane densities, one very patient hotelier — the arrival sequence resolved into clustered cane domes over travertine, with woven lounge chairs pulling the eye inward. Production ran in two phases against the opening date; every piece was photographed at packing and every carton numbered to its room.
The lesson hospitality keeps teaching us: a product isn't finished when one is perfect. It's finished when the fortieth is identical to the first.
Why we photograph every new mesh under magnification before it ever becomes a chair.
Tension is invisible at full scale and obvious at 10×. A weave that drifts by half a millimetre per pass becomes a chair that leans — so every new mesh is woven, photographed under magnification, measured, and only then released to the frame jigs. The macro lens is our strictest quality inspector.
Cardboard lies. Timber approximates. Brass tells the truth about weight, balance and light.
It's more expensive and we do it anyway. A first prototype in final material answers every question at once — how it stands, how it feels, how light moves across it. Clients approve faster, production surprises vanish, and the prototype often becomes the photography piece. Truth early is cheaper than truth late.
Designing a pendant that holds the room even when it's switched off.
Most lighting is designed glowing. We design ours dark first — as pure form on the workbench. If the silhouette, proportion and surface earn their place unlit, the glow becomes a second act rather than a disguise. LN°01 went through nine spun profiles before the curve held.
A morning on the workshop floor, where the weave is tuned like an instrument.
There is a sound a correct weave makes — a low, even tick as each pass seats against the last. Our senior weaver hears a loose pass before he sees it. Mornings on the floor start with the previous day's panels held to the light, and anything that doesn't ring true goes back to the frame.

RJDLx is led by architects — which is why our products behave like architecture: proportioned, detailed, and built for real projects.
Most export firms sell you what they already make. RJDLx starts from what your project actually needs — then designs, prototypes, manufactures and exports it.
Because the eye is an architect's eye, conversations happen in the language of drawings, junctions and tolerances — not catalogues.
Before material, before finish — the relationships between parts must be right.
Brass looks like brass. Cane looks like cane. Nothing pretends to be something else.
A product is judged at the junction. We draw every one at 1:5 before making.
Every object is composed for how it catches, holds and throws light.
Quiet forms, serious construction, finishes that age beautifully.
Original pieces developed from brief to production-ready drawings.
Your concept or reference, engineered and prototyped for manufacture.
White-label design and production for international brands.
Hospitality and retail rollouts — sampling, QC, packing, export.
Design direction, proportion, and the final eye on every object.
Drawings, prototypes, engineering for manufacture.
Metal, weave and cane — decades of combined craft.
Piece-by-piece QC, packing, documentation, freight.
RJDL is a widely published and critically acclaimed design firm, known for its out-of-the-box design ideas and work — from an infinity-shaped café built of recycled shipping containers to interiors that rethink how India eats, shops and gathers.
Café Infinity alone has been featured in 24 international publications, including ArchDaily (USA, Spain, China), Archello, Designboom, Architizer, Architectural Digest, AD Middle East, Inhabitat and The Better India.

Worldwide — by sea, air and courier. Electrics are built to your market standard (220–240V / 110V) and cane is treated for destination climates.
Every shipment is photographed at packing. In the rare event of transit damage, we repair, replace or credit — documented, without drama.
Please do. Client visits to the Delhi studio and workshops are welcomed — write ahead and we'll arrange the benches, the chai and the prototypes.
